21st August 2018

On Thursday 16th August 2018 Bridget saw the launch of another Beacon area Pears #iwill Fund project.

Launched at Alnwick Castle by the Duchess of Northumberland, the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust project will recruit young people to spend time with older people in the community, helping to combat loneliness and provide key skills for the young people taking part.

The Trust have recruited 15 young people so far, aged 16-18 from a local school and college, to befriend older people at Weavers’ Court extra care scheme.  By 2020, the trust hopes to have taken on 200 volunteers as part of the broader Pears #iwill Fund to enable young people to volunteer within the NHS.
