British Red Cross
Providing humanitarian aid and promoting humanitarian values
We’re really proud of our partnership with the British Red Cross. Over the years, we’ve seen first-hand how their Seven Fundamental Principles shape everything they do. Not just as a set of principles, but as a living commitment to humanity, impartiality and service. These values closely reflect our own at Pears Foundation, and they’re why we continue to support the organisation’s work in the UK and around the world. It’s a partnership rooted in a shared belief in dignity, compassion, and the importance of standing with people in times of crisis.Sir Trevor Pears CMG,
Executive Chair, Pears Foundation
For over 150 years the British Red Cross has stood with people in crisis, both in the UK and abroad. Our partnership with Pears Foundation helps us to respond swiftly in emergencies and invest in long-term work that empowers young people and promotes respect for international humanitarian law. Their support enables us to deliver life-saving aid and strengthen public understanding of the principles that protect human dignity in times of conflict. We value the trust, flexibility and shared purpose that sit at the heart of this partnership.Béatrice Butsana-Sita,

The British Red Cross has long been a trusted partner of Pears Foundation, particularly in times of crisis. Our support for their emergency appeals, most recently in Sudan and Myanmar, has helped deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance in the face of natural disasters, conflict, and mass displacement.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, this partnership extended to their work in the UK, where the British Red Cross played a central role in the national emergency response. Their efforts included direct support to individuals and large-scale coordination of volunteers, which was a core part of Pears Foundation’s emergency response.
In 2021, we were proud to support the British Red Cross through the Pears #iWill Fund. This investment enabled young people to move from programme participants to active contributors within the organisation, helping to shape strategy, influence services, and become advocates for change – both within the Red Cross and in their wider communities.
Most recently, in the context of increasing conflict and displacement across the world, Pears Foundation has embarked on a new partnership with the British Red Cross to support their work in International Humanitarian Law, promoting awareness and understanding of the laws that govern armed conflict and protect human dignity. Through research, policy and influencing capacity, and outreach in schools and community settings, this work equips young people and the wider public with the tools to engage thoughtfully and critically with key humanitarian issues and principles.
