NHS Expo 2017: The Role of Young People in Improving Health and Transforming Care

Bridget attends NHS Expo 2017 to mark the launch of the first six NHS pilot sites funded through the Pears #iwill Fund.

11th September 2017

I am delighted to be attending NHS Expo on Monday 11th September, to celebrate the role of young volunteers in the NHS, and to signpost resources and support for NHS Trusts keen to develop quality youth social action opportunities in the health and social care sector.

NHS Expo will mark the launch of the first six pilot sites funded through the Pears #iwill Fund, all working to initiate or develop engagement with young people.  A further six are already in discussion to be launched in the autumn, and we hope to continue adding further sites and projects in the lead-up to #NHS70 next year, and through to 2020.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the individuals and organisations who have helped us develop this fund, including our friends at Nesta, Step Up to Serve, the Royal Free Charity and NHS England.  We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with the sector in the coming years.

If you are an NHS Trust interested in this area, have a look at our insights document, written by the participants in Nesta’s Helping in Hospitals programme, specifically around the role of young volunteers.  If you are interested in applying to the Pears #iwill Fund, full guidance on the application process is available to download here, and project registrations can be submitted online here.
