The first four communities to take part in Communities for Children, the £15 million funding collaboration between BBC Children in Need, The National Lottery Community Fund, City Bridge Foundation and Pears Foundation, have been announced.
The programme will work in Wishaw in North Lanarkshire, Holyhead in Anglesey, Hackney in London and Seacombe in the Liverpool City Region, working with local lead organisations Corra Foundation, Medrwn Môn, Coffee Afrik CIC and Right to Succeed.
Over the next five years, each partnership will receive £1.5 million to work with children, families, local organisations and services to develop responses shaped by the needs and strengths of their community.
The four places mark the first phase of Communities for Children, which will ultimately work in ten areas across the UK. Alongside the work in individual communities, the programme will bring partners together to share learning and build a better understanding of how place-based approaches can help reduce the impact of child poverty.
