How early mental health intervention pays off

Mental health counselling in primary schools could offer a six-fold return on investment, says Pro Bono Economics report.

An economic evaluation published today of Place2Be’s school-based mental health services has calculated that for every £1 invested there’s a return of more than £6 for society as a whole. The analysis by ProBono Economics assessed the lifelong financial benefit of higher rates of employment and earnings and reduced rates of school truancy, exclusion, smoking, depression and crime.
