Directors, staff and trustees of small charities often have responsibility over a number of areas of which they have little or no expertise.
On the 5th and 19th March 2020 we will be running the popular Finance for Non-Finance Professionals course: Understanding Financial Reports and Accounts. This two-part workshop has been designed for charity leaders who have financial responsibilities but no previous financial experience. It teaches the basics of accounts, financial obligations and to understand how finance and financial reporting works.
This course is unique to Pears Foundation and has been developed specifically with small to medium sized charities in mind. The sessions are delivered in small groups which means that our trusted facilitator can tailor the course to the needs of the attendees.
The course is split over two half-days, each focusing on a different area, and participants are expected to attend both parts:
- Learn how to look through your organisation’s accounts and balance sheets with confidence – understand what the terminology means, who they are for, and what they could tell a funder about your charity.
- Learn to present management information to managers or trustees in a useful and effective way and understand what should be included in a budget and why.
The course is open to all Pears Grantees and aimed at anyone with little or no previous financial experience but who have financial responsibilities in their charities and need to understand and interpret financial information. It especially suits charity directors, staff and trustees.
